Highlander Families,

We have been busy this summer updating our network and wireless infrastructure, primarily in our elementary and middle school buildings. The goal of these updates is to bring better connectivity and an overall improved experience for our students and staff using technology.

Along with these updates, we have evaluated network accessibility and content filtering from a district perspective. We are continually looking at ways to improve the school climate, better serve our students and keep the focus on learning in the classroom. Beginning in the 2017-18 school year, access to social media sites will be blocked for students through our district network. As we progress through the year, we will collect data and feedback from our stakeholders concerning acceptable student sites and assess the future direction of website and mobile app access across the district.

We encourage you to have conversations with your children regarding acceptable use of social media and the impact (positive and negative) these tools can have. Thank you for your support as we focus on helping each student learn and grow at Oak Hills.

Sincerely,
Jeff Brandt
Superintendent, OHLSD
