Vietnam veteran and two Bridgetown teachers

Over the summer we shared some pictures from our Bridgetown Middle School students who traveled to Washington, D.C. Yesterday, one of those veterans, Mr. Zech, who received a letter from one of our Bobcats lived up to his promise and visited the middle school. He'll be back for the veterans breakfast and will meet the student whose letter he received.

Here's a portion of the letter he wrote to his local YMCA where he works about his experience in May.

"While standing by the Vietnam Memorial Wall, with my Vietnam Service hat, I noticed a line of teenagers who started handing me envelopes. One was a #10 envelope painted like an American Flag. Inside was a letter thanking me for my service. In 50 years I had not experienced anything quite like that. I noticed that the teens were from Bridgetown Middle School, near Cincinnati. Some teacher had challenged these teens to write a letter to a veteran and hand them to him/her. I plan to visit Bridgetown Middle School this fall and take my framed remembrance to show them how much it meant. It was an honor to serve. I never expected this experience when I went to our Nation’s Capital."
