TO-KNOW

  1. On Monday evening, the School Board will be discussing the future of language immersion in the District, and have allowed an hour and half for public comment. I expect it will be a lively meeting! There is no expectation that you attend but, if you choose to do so, the meeting begins at 6:30pm at Delhi Middle School. More information about next steps in this process are in this document.
  2. We are administering the TerraNova and InView test in grades 2-4 this week. As a result, many staff members and rooms will be in use for small group accommodations. IVSs and instructional aides will let you know if testing will impact their work with you. The library is closed in the mornings through Thursday. Friday is a make-up day and we may or may not need the library that day.
  3. I will be out from about 11:30am – 2:30pm on Thursday, meeting with other elementary principals at Delshire. Someone from District Office (not sure who yet!) will be here to cover.

TO-DO

  1. Certified staff: A reminder that this Tuesday is our December faculty meeting, beginning promptly 3:20pm in the Library. Please bring your laptop.

This one goes out to all of our writing teachers! This is a summary of an article originally published in the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. The authors surveyed 39 best-selling and award-winning authors to learn more about their writing process. There are some comments that echo what you share with your students in Writers’ Workshop and others that might surprise you. I thought you might find some good tidbits to put in your back pocket for a mini-lesson or conference down the road.
