TO-KNOW

  1. I will (unfortunately!) be out of the building on three days this week:
    1. I will be at District on Wednesday morning (2/8) until about 12:30 pm and Thursday afternoon (2/9) from 1:15 pm until the end of the day. I will be on call and return if needed.
    2. I will be at a conference in Columbus all day on Friday, 2/10. Candice Lessing (assistant principal at Oakdale) will be covering for me in the morning and Rachel Searcy (assistant principal at Dulles) will be here in the afternoon.
  2. Congratulations to Pam McRae, who has been promoted to cafeteria manager at C.O. Harrison! Pam’s last day is February 15. I know that I am not alone in feeling very sad to see Pam go, while at the same time I know that she is so deserving of this opportunity. Melissa Kappen will be taking over for Pam. Melissa is currently serving as cafeteria manager at Delhi Middle School (filling Ann’s role since she was promoted to cafeteria manager at the high school!). Welcome to Melissa!
  3. Our Read-a-Thon raised over $6,300! Thank you for your help making it happen! Students have until February 12 to select prizes in the prize store.

TO-DO

  1. Instead of having an official faculty meeting in February, I am asking teachers to complete the following two items. Andrea and I will be in the library during our scheduled faculty meeting time on Tuesday so that we can address any questions you might have about either item. If you need extra time to complete either task, just let me know.
    1. All grade level teams: Please ensure that students’ current intervention data are entered into the “Class of” spreadsheets by the end of the day this Tuesday.  Having an accurate record of interventions is important as we track students’ progress from one school year to the next. We appreciate your help!

    2. All K-5 classroom teachers: By the end of the day on Tuesday, please complete this survey about our February 17 professional day.

 It’s that time of the year! We’ve been back from winter break for over a month without another break on the horizon…state testing is coming quickly…it’s still cold and dark outside…[insert your own challenge here!]. There’s no question about it; February can be a tough month! This article has some small ideas about how to make sure that you remember to keep your own wellness a priority. After all, as the flight attendants always remind us on airplanes, you need to be sure to put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others!
