TO-KNOW

  1. A reminder that this Tuesday, March 21 at 1:45 pm is the in-school performance of “The Princess and the Pea,” this year’s Encore Musical. It will likely last until almost dismissal time.
  2. Thanks to all who are participating in One Hope, One Heart on Friday, whether as a player, volunteer, donor to our basket, or organizer!! Another way to show your support is to attend! It is from 6-9pm at the high school’s gym. Hope to see you there!
  3. Testing starts next Tuesday, March 28. The testing schedule is available here and testing dates are also on the staff calendar. Vartek has indicated that it will be best to avoid streaming high-quality videos during testing times on testing days. Other internet use (both teacher and student) should be fine. (That said, please see point #1 under “To-Do” below)
  4. Carnival is in just two weeks, on Saturday, April 1 from 11-4. If you have not attended before, it is a fun afternoon with games, food, basket raffles, a silent auction, cake walk, and more! Historically, staff members have sold treasure chest tickets. This is an easy job…just a matter of walking around the gym and selling tickets! We still have three spots open from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Please sign up by clicking here if you are available!

TO-DO

  1. I will be leaving for District Office at 3:10pm on Monday to meet with Vartek and the District Office team about our recent connectivity issues. Please let me know (if you haven’t already) if you or students had issues connecting last week or if you have issues on Monday. I am trying to offer them as complete of a picture of our issues as possible. It is possible that we will do an all building “stress test” of our network next week, during which all students will log in at the same time. This will help Vartek to troubleshoot. I will keep you posted.

A Teacher’s Pursuit of Imperfection

I have often told people that becoming a teacher erased any perfectionist tendencies I had previously had (and parenthood took that a step further!). In this Education Week Teacher article, Arkansas 2nd/3rd Grade Teacher Justin Minkel describes why imperfection may actually be a worthy goal for educators. I found the article a great reminder of what we gain when we take risks and how our students, in turn, gain as well. Thought you might also like it!
