TO-KNOW
- Thank you for all that offered support to One Hope, One Heart, whether as a player, volunteer, or attendee! And a BIG thanks to Brenda for taking a lead role in organizing this important fundraiser for our District’s families.
- Carnival is this Saturday from 11-4! This is PTA’s bi-annual fundraiser. Thanks to all who signed up to help with set up and/or selling treasure chest tickets! It’s not too late to sign up! If you aren’t able to commit to a volunteer slot, consider stopping by for a bit. It’s good family fun!
- The District has recently adopted a new concussion protocol. According to this protocol, any student who receives an injury to the head should be seen in the health room. Jan or Holly will then decide if further monitoring is needed. Please send all students who receive an injury to their head to the health room, regardless of whether they say they need medical attention.
TO-DO
- Testing starts on Tuesday! A reminder to please avoid student internet use during testing times. I know this is less than ideal and appreciate your flexibility.
- Due to scheduling conflicts, I need to move our April Faculty Meeting to this Wednesday, March 29. It will be very brief, beginning promptly at 3:20 pm in the Library. I apologize for the last minute change. If you have to leave at 3:30 pm, please plan to join for at least the first ten minutes. You do not need to bring anything with you.
- Recess Duty Teachers: Please take extra care that the walkies are securely charging when returning from duty. With our new carpool system, we run into issues at dismissal when they are low on battery. Please make a note of this in your sub plans and/or share with the sub when a colleague is out.
- A reminder that SDQ submissions are due by the end of the day this Friday, March 31.
TO-READ
This is a brief, thought-provoking article, offering a way to quantify the impact of instruction on student learning so that educators can decide whether instructional activities were worth the effort. Also linked in the article is a tool where you can input student data on a pre- and post-assessment and see the effect size of instruction and a graph that plots students’ achievement and progress. (Unfortunately, the tool seems to require Excel. I tried to upload into Google Docs and the formulas did not all convert.) Even if not used as-is, I thought the concept was very interesting and thought it might pique the interest of some of you, too!
