TO-KNOW

1. Conferences are Tuesday, 11/1 (4:00 – 8:00), Thursday, 11/3 (4:00 – 8:00), and Wednesday, 11/9 (4:00 – 7:00). Please review the details about scheduling below:
   1. From today through Friday, 10/14, we will have Sign Up Genius set up but will not share it with parents until the Sparks is emailed on Friday afternoon. This is so that you can set up conferences with high priority parents and/or parents who require a double time slot. Please contact those parents this week to set up a time. If you set up a time, please email Cyndi and Shannon and they will enter it into Sign Up Genius.
   2. The vast majority of you wanted to sign up for your own dinner time! Please enter your preferred dinner time in this spreadsheet by Tuesday and Cyndi and Shannon will put it into SignUp Genius before it goes live to parents.
2. We will not have a November Faculty Meeting. This will provide classroom teachers an extra opportunity to work on the SDQ questionnaires and provide everyone with a break in a busy month!
3. Say cheese! A reminder that Picture Day is this Wednesday. The schedule is available here.
4. I will be at District Office on Tuesday from about 12:15pm – 1:45pm. I will be available by phone and will return to the building if needed.
5. We have had some on-going problems in the bathrooms and could use your help with reinforcing expectations.
   1. The problems:
      1. In the boys and girls restrooms on the bottom floor, it seems that boys and girls have been hanging on the partition door and/or the bar above the door. This has caused damage to the doors and the bar to come off.
      2. In both boys and girls restrooms on the middle level, students are turning the faucets up so that they spray on the next student who uses the sink. In addition, in the girls restroom, girls have begun locking the stall doors and crawling out from underneath so that the next student who comes has to crawl under. This is a safety concern as it leads to wet floors and students having to crawl on dirty floors.
   2. What you can do to help: We are working to pinpoint the timeframes when this is happening so that we can identify the culprits. In the meantime, can you please reinforce expectations with your students and have them report any problems to you immediately?  If students report a problem to you, it would be very helpful if you could record the time and problem and email it to Cyndi. If you have other ideas about how to address these behaviors, please let me know!

TO-DO

1. Please make plans for an adjusted schedule this Friday for our annual walk-a-thon. The schedule is noted below. Teachers will have an hour-long plan bell while students walk. Thank you for your flexibility with this major fundraiser for our PTA.

• 9:30 – 10:30 – Grades AM-K, 1, 3, 5
• 1:15 – 2:15 – Grades PM-K, 2, 4
• 2:20 – 2:50 – Assembly in the gym including our lip sync contest! (K, 2, and 4 teachers: Please have your students line up outside at the end of their walk time and then lead them into the gym.)

For a laugh and some good resources, check out this blog post from We Are Teachers. I think our reading teachers will find some familiar faces! Incidentally, this is the same site where I found the “We Are Teachers” video that we watched at our August opening day meeting. They have a variety of interesting resources!
