Delhi Middle School students in the new Bracketology Club had the amazing opportunity to meet with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi on Tuesday, May 8 to discuss bracketology. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade Eagles presented questions to him in his hour-long visit learning how his job works and what his role at ESPN involves. Lunardi stressed the importance of being a well-rounded student, excelling at reading, writing and math. He shared that one of the most important tools a student can have moving forward is being the best communicator you can be.

This was the first year of the club supervised by Mr. Cornelius and Mr. Miller. Each club member was assigned four college basketball teams to track data on for the season but encouraged to watch as many as possible. They were then responsible for inputting 1, 2, 3 and 4 quadrant data and updating metrics in six categories. The club met once a week to discuss teams and seeding as the tournament drew closer. The students were able to accurately seed 42 of the 68 teams plus they had 22 teams only one seed line off and two only two seeds off! How’s that for practical application of your school lessons? What a neat project. #highlanderstrong #GoEagles
