Please consider signing up for the Hoxworth Blood Drive on Monday, April 2 as a tribute and recognition for two of our own Highlanders!

Adam Haehnle, was an Oakdale, Bridgetown and Oak Hills High School student who tragically took his own life in April of 2016 at the young age of 19. He was a sophomore at the University of Cincinnati studying Health and Human Services. Adam wrestled, played baseball and soccer through his middle school years. He left behind his parents Matt and Becky and two brothers, Brendan a 2010 graduate of OHHS and Chase, who will graduate in 2018. Adam suffered from depression. Due to the circumstances surrounding his death, Adam’s parents were unable to donate any of his organs. This Hoxworth Blood Drive is their way of giving something back to help honor their son’s memory.

Levi Osterfeld will be a kindergartener at Oakdale next year joining his sisters Maryn and Brynlee. His brother Kai attends preschool at J.F. Dulles. Levi was born in China and then adopted by his parents Mara and Jeremy in July of 2017. He was born with a condition called  Beta Thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder. Because his body does not produce red blood cells, he must receive blood transfusions on a regular basis. While he was in China he was only able to receive blood donations three to four times a year. We are very fortunate to have Hoxworth Blood Center in our community, which allows Levi to get his transfusions every four weeks, as his body needs them. Levi will continue to receive transfusions for the rest of life.

The Hoxworth Donation Mobile Unit will be at Oak Hills High School on Monday April 2, 2018, from noon to 6 p.m.  To schedule an appointment call 513-451-0910 or go online: www.hoxworth.org/groups/adamandlevi

It is very simple to sign up and you will be providing a valuable service to our community by doing so. If you are unable to donate, please encourage your friends, family and neighbors to do so! Thank you for your support.
