Today we wish Mr. Eugene Kramer a very happy 90th birthday!

Mr. Kramer started his education career at Delhi before Oak Hills was even a District. He was the assistant principal at Springmyer Elementary School before becoming J.F. Dulles Elementary's first principal when it opened in 1961. He served as the principal until 1974 and then moved to district office.

When Kramer's wife passed away in 2002, he started helping his daughter and 1974 Oak Hills graduate, Kim Dobbs, three days a week in her kindergarten room at C.O. Harrison Elementary. He then followed her to Delshire Elementary until she retired in 2013. He continued volunteering at Delshire one more year before bringing his talents back to his roots with the Dulles Bears!

There is still a framed picture of Kramer hanging outside the library at J.F. Dulles to honor his time as principal. He has worked with the students in the kindergarten classes at Dulles three times a week for the past three and a half years. After a brief illness this year, he couldn't wait to return to Dulles, but wasn't supposed to drive. That didn't stop him from showing up. He used Uber rides when necessary so he didn't miss helping the students.

"That's passion and dedication at its finest," J.F. Dulles kindergarten teacher Kellie O'Brien said. "The children and teachers are lucky to call Mr. Kramer our friend. We are so excited to be part of his 90th birthday!"

Today, the kindergarten classes and their teachers surprised Kramer when he arrived early this morning with a banner, balloons, cake, cheers and applause. He was greeted with hugs and smiles as everyone wished him a wonderful birthday.

Happy birthday to a very special man to many in the Oak Hills Local School District. We're lucky to know you!
