Former Cincinnati Bengal great Sam Hubbard stopped by Delshire Elementary yesterday to visit with students in Cara Cahill's second grade classroom and check out how the Hubbard's Cupboard program was progressing at the Delhi Township school.
The program, run in collaboration with Crayons & Beyond, is an on-site, on-demand resource for students and teachers, providing immediate access to school supplies, hygiene products and healthy snacks. Cupboards are stocked regularly by the program's volunteers, also known as Cupboard Captains, approximately twice a month during the school year.
Mrs. Cahill's students had some great questions ready for Sam about his playing days, his favorite pet, what his goto Skyline order is, and what his most memorable play as a Bengal was during his career. Sam took the time to sign autographs for everyone who wanted something signed, and even signed Mrs. Cahill's Sam Hubbard jersey!
Laurie and Andy Walter, both OHHS Class of 1987 alums, are the captains for the Delshire Hubbard's Cupboard and were also on hand for Sam's visit to the school. We are so grateful to Sam, Laurie and Andy, the Sam Hubbard Foundation and Crayons & Beyond for this amazing program and their continued support of our students at Delshire and across the school district.
