Celebrating the Return of Artist Kevin Muente to OHHS
We were thrilled to welcome back acclaimed painter and Northern Kentucky University (NKU) professor Kevin Muente for another inspiring visit with our OHHS Art and Design students. Some may remember Muente from our past Creative Canvassing event, where his thoughtful guidance and candid insights left a lasting impression. His return only deepened that impact.
Muente, whose atmospheric landscape paintings have been showcased in national juried exhibitions and represented by Cincinnati Art Galleries, has built a distinguished career defined by exploration, discipline, and a genuine love for the craft. His accolades include the Kentucky Arts Council’s Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship, a Cincinnati Summerfair Aid to Individual Artist Grant, and multiple artist residencies in places most artists only dream of painting: Denali National Park, the Wrangell Mountains, Rocky Mountain National Park, and more.

During his visit, Muente shared updates on his latest work, walked students through his evolving creative process, and offered an honest look into the realities of life as a professional artist. From discussing the patience required in landscape painting to the resilience needed to navigate the art world, his message resonated strongly with students who are beginning to imagine their own creative paths.
The return of Kevin Muente wasn’t just an artist visit, it was a reminder of what’s possible when passion meets persistence. We’re grateful for his continued connection to OHHS and the inspiration he brings to our classrooms.
