Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Taylor Randall       Softball                Jr
Jr outfielder Taylor Randall had a big week going 3/5 in our double header against Sycamore driving in 2 RBIs. In Taylor’s first varsity season she’s taken on a new position where she’s played the outfield in 14 games committing no errors. She’s scored 6 runs, with 6 RBIs with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Taylor also holds her own in the classroom with a 3.20 gpa. 
 
Lucy Schutte          Girls' Track               Fr
Lucy had an outstanding performance at the Best of the West meet. She anchored the winning 4x800 meter relay team, finishing strong and pulling away from the competition. In the 3200 meters, she placed 2nd with a remarkable 22-second improvement, clocking an impressive freshman time of 11:50. Lucy continues to gain strength and make steady progress as the season progresses. 
 
Collin Wilson            Boys' Track                   Jr
 Collin has quickly become a key contributor in his first-ever track season. He earned a win in the 800 meters at the Best of the West meet and plays an important role on both the 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams. Collin competes with confidence and determination, and his continued development has made a strong impact on the team's success.
 
Cadence Shepherd                 Girls' Lacrosse                       Jr
Cadence has become a leader on our JV team and a majorly impactful player on Varsity. These past two weeks, she has had a handful of ground balls, caused turnovers, and draw controls in the games. She had an exceptional set of games against McNicholas on Wednesday. As this is her first year playing lacrosse, she has improved tremendously this season. We are looking forward to watching Cadence lead in our final GMC game against Lakota East and our tournament game on Thursday versus Kings.
 
Wil Kraus     Baseball                Jr
Wil was 10/20 this week with 1 double, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 4 RBI’s, 8 runs scored, 3 SB’s. Wil is a multi sport athlete with a 4.43 GPA. He is also a member of SALT and FCA.
