Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to the HIghlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Lexi Holzbacher               Girls' Golf                 Jr.
Lexi is our most consistent Varsity golfer, at the very valuable #2 position. She plays with determination but also with an even temper. She has worked tirelessly over the past 3 years to become a huge asset to our team, averaging a 45. 
 
Olivia Slye           Girls' Soccer              Sr.
Olivia had the game winning goal with 40 seconds left against Lakota West, to help the Highlanders to a 3-2 win.  She has played outside forward and outside back, helping the team propel to an undefeated season through 6 games. Olivia also takes honors courses and several college courses at Cincy State.
 
Maryn Osterfeld                Girls' Cross Country                Soph
Maryn is making a big impact early in the season! Every day in practice she challenges herself to run with the top group, showing determination and perseverance. Her positive attitude, consistency, and commitment to improving not only push her own limits but also inspire her teammates. She has earned her spot as the team’s #8 runner, and we can’t wait to see her continue to rise throughout the season!"
 
Lydia De Witt             Girls' Cross Country                  Jr.
Lydia has put in tremendous work over the past year to build her strength and endurance, and it’s already showing this season. She has opened the year with personal bests in each of her first two races! Lydia’s positive attitude and energy brighten every practice, and she is a great friend and teammate to everyone. She’s proving that dedication leads to results, and we’re excited to see her momentum carry through the rest of the season!
 
Mitchell Weldele                Boys' Golf                         Jr.
Mitchell was medalist (43) at Miami Whitewater vs Hamilton Badin. Mitchell plays for the Highlander baseball team as well.
 
Brooke Lint                       Girls' Tennis                       Sr.
Brooke Lint has exemplified leadership both on and off the court.  On the court, Brooke has been willing to fluctuate between first doubles or third singles throughout the season.  This past week she clinched the match for the team at 3rd singles to defeat St. Ursula and help the Highlanders advance to the district semi-finals in the OTCA team tournament for the first time in school history.  Off the court Brooke is a member of Student Council and writes for the school paper.  She also carries a 3.8 GPA while being a successful entrepreneur as a nail technician in her extra time. 
 
Emma Tharp                   Girls' Volleyball                Jr
Emma broke 500 career kills and lead the team with 9 aces, 27 digs and 50 kills in our matches against Edgewood, West and Harrison. 
 
Amadou Seck                 Boys' Soccer                  Sr.
Amadou scored his first career varsity goal against Lakota West. Amadou’s work rate on the field is a great example to his teammates.
 
Max Rhodes                          Football                          Sr.
Max, a senior captain, had 21 tackles including 13 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss. Max also punted 7 times for an average of 42 yards. he is a multi-sport athlete and an excellent student.
 
Cordell Ball                       Football                      Soph
Cordell had 5 catches for 100 yards and 1 TD. He also had 1 punt return for 19 yards. Cordell is a multi-sport athlete and a member of S.A.L.T. Leadership Group.
