Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Mylz Cunningham               Football                        Soph
Mylz had 8 total tackles, including 2 tackle for loss, and 1 pass break up.
 
Aaron McFarland               Football                      Sr.
Aaron had 100 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD; 79 yards receiving with1 TD reception; he also made 2 special teams tackles.
 
Tyler Woycke                 Boy's Golf                   Soph
Tyler has qualified and played every match and tournament this year for the Highlanders. He is in the Top 10 in holes played in the GMC. Tyler also plays for the Highlanders Basketball & Baseball teams, and he is an outstanding student with a 4.692 GPA. 
 
Clara Andrews                 Girls' Tennis              Jr.      
Clara Andrews, earned her second victory at doubles this year with her partner, Lanie Weller.  Clara and Lanie lost the first set 6-0, but battled back to secure the win in a 10 point tiebreaker over Fairfield. In addition to playing tennis, Clara is a member of National Honor Society and ASL Honor Society.  Clara also works at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and plans to go to college to become a doctor in trauma surgery. 
 
Lanie Weller                   Girls' Tennis                Jr.
Junior, Lanie Weller, earned her second victory at doubles this year with her partner, Clara Andrews.  Clara and Lanie lost the first set 6-0, but battled back to secure the win in a 10 point tiebreaker over Fairfield. Lanie is also a member of the lacrosse team in the spring and a member of NHS. Furthermore, Lanie maintains a 4.0 GPA while working at Stumps.  Lanie plans to go to UC to study engineering. 
 
Aleah Coster               Girls' Cross Country            Jr.
Aleah Coster is off to an outstanding season. Last Saturday, she captured the individual title at the Princeton Invitational and helped lead her team to the overall championship. Through the first four meets, Aleah has finished in the top 11 each time—often in races with more than 200-300 competitors. She is currently ranked #7 in the Region and #29 in the state. Earlier this season, Aleah set a personal best of 18:37, placing her #5 on the Oak Hills All-Time Record Board. A fierce competitor and dedicated athlete Aleah balances her training while also excelling as a two-sport varsity athlete and starter on the soccer team. Beyond athletics, Aleah is an outstanding student, taking four AP classes, one honors class, and carrying a 4.62 GPA.
 
Owen Huff                Boys' Cross Country              Soph.
Owen ran a GMC leading time of 15:53 this weekend in Louisville. Besides being a committed and talented runner, Owen is a team captain and part of the Student Athlete Leadership council at Oak Hills. He is also an excellent student with a 3.67 GPA and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
 
Dixie Brogan                Girls' Golf                Fr.
Dixie has come onto the Varsity team as a freshman & has contributed her score as vital in EVERY match & tournament this season! She's consistently our #3 golfer, just 1 stroke away from #2. She comes with a positive attitude every match and supports her teammates & opponents.
 
Brady Wergers             Boys' Soccer                 Sr.
Brady has been a really good leader on the field and off the field. He always works really hard and helps his teammates play at the same level. Brady is one of our three captains and has been holding down the defense for us this season. Our defense has had really good performances recently and Brady has been a big part of it.
 
Sarah Maly                Girls' Soccer                Fr.
Sarah played a key role in the Highlanders’ shutout draw against Springboro this past week. Despite being just a freshman, she has consistently stepped up, helping shut down some of the top forwards in the region.  Off the field, Sarah excels academically, balancing her athletic commitments while taking five honors courses.
 
Lily Stewart               Girls' Volleyball                 Sr.
Lily earned 16 kills, 9 digs, 3 aces and passed a 1.56 for her team in our tough matches against Wyoming and Mason.
