Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Aaron McFarland Football Sr.
Aaron rushed for a 23 yard TD, caught a 20 yard TD pass, and threw a 35 yard TD pass in our 48 - 10 win over Sycamore. Aaron showed positive leadership throughout the game.
Cordell Ball Football Soph.
Cordell had 5 receptions for 177 yards, and 3 TD's in our 48-10 win over Sycamore. He was also a positive leader throughout the entire game. Cordell is also a multi-sport athlete.
Sophia McCarthy Girls' Volleyball Soph
Sophia entered the season as a setter but quickly adapted to a new role as our right back defensive specialist. She has worked so hard to improve her defense and serve recieve week by week. This past week, Sophia recorded 29 digs, 6 aces, and had a 1.90 passing average, playing a key role in our 3-0 week with wins over Taylor, Colerain, and Beavercreek.
Ava Kammerer Girls' Soccer Sr.
Senior goalkeeper, Ava had a career night in the Highlanders' matchup vs. Colerain! She secured her first varsity assist as well as her first varsity goal! Her goal came off of a free kick from 22 yards out that went into the upper 90 side net on the far post! Ava also gets it done in the classroom, as she takes all college courses at Cincinnati State!
Cordelia Sweeney Girls' Golf Sr.
Week-to-week, Cordelia has been a ray of light for our team - supportive of all golfers, including her teammates & our competitors. She shares her positivity & encouragement & even earned the Steve Shuck award for the GMC! She is consistently a valuable scorer for our team, helping to lead us to an overall winning season!
Bella Dehner Girls' Soccer Sr.
Bella a senior goalkeeper, had an outstanding week, scoring 2 goals on Senior Night against Colerain, in which both were great finishes. She also recorded 2 shutouts this past week and continues to excel in the classroom, taking college prep courses.
Reilly Murphy Girls' Tennis Soph
Sophomore, Reilly Murphy, earned third team All GMC this past week with her partner, Yasmeen Masri. Reilly earned eleven wins this season with various doubles partners throughout. Reilly maintains a 4.0 GPA and is also a member of the track team. Reilly consistently works hard to improve her game and is an excellent teammate.
Yasmeen Masri Girls' Tennis Sr.
Senior, Yasmeen Masri, earned third team all GMC with her partner Reilly Murphy. Yasmeen earned eight wins this year as she battled through an injury earlier in the season. Yasmeen has grown so much as a person since her freshman year as she stepped into a leadership role this year. Yasmeen plans to go to UC next year and wants to work on becoming an anesthesiologist.
Maeghan Zimmerly Girls' Cross Country Jr.
Maeghan placed 8th at the Ross Invitational on Saturday. She is an outstanding leader whose positivity and dedication make a significant impact on the team. She is one of the team captains and sets a great example for her teammates through her strong work ethic and determination. Maeghan has been a consistent top-five runner all season. She leads with encouragement, enthusiasm, and a genuine care for her teammates. Maeghan brings energy and positivity to every practice and meet. She also plays on the varsity Soccer team.
