Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Sammy Swafford                    Softball                             Sr.
Senior catcher Sammy Swafford has been a consistent offensive drive for the Highlanders. She is currently hitting .414 with a triple, 3 doubles and 13rbi. Sam was hot against Hamilton Badin going 4-4 with a double and a triple and 4 rbi in the 18-2 win. Sam has a 4.0 GPA and is currently taking college classes. She will graduate in the top 10% in her class.
 
Eva Hensley                Girls' Track                          Sr.
Eva is a four year varsity track athlete who has played a pivotal role in the success of the track team. She is a great leader and role model on the team. Eva has had a great start to the season. She won the 1600 meters at the Ross meet running a PR time of 5:12 which is currently the 9th fastest time in the state and the third fastest time in school history. She has won the 800 meters twice this season running a PR time of 2:24. Eva will be attending Ohio University on an athletic scholarship to run Cross Country and Track.   
 
Kosi Mkwananzi                  Boys' Track                        Sr.
Kosi is one of Oak Hills top point scorers and impresses every time he steps on the track. Kosi was part of the 1st place long jump relay and 1st place shuttle hurdle relay on Friday at Coaches Classic. He also came back a couple hours later and anchored the 3rd place Swiss relay.
 
Aiden Thomas                    Baseball                          Sr.
Aiden pitched a complete game win against Hamilton High School with 8 strikeouts and only 1 earned run. He is a second year varsity starter and strong team leader. He excels in the classroom with a 3.85 GPA in AP and CCP classes and will graduate with 12 completed college classes. Aiden is committed to play baseball at Mt. Saint Joseph next fall.  
 
Gwen Byrd                  Girl's  Lacrosse                         Fr.
Gwen had a tremendous week against Lakota East and Sycamore. She played strong defense, shutting down their best players. She was a great leader on defense, helping our team stay connected on the field. As she played her first games, she showed so much potential and we are excited to watch her grow this season.
 
Aiden Spangler           Boys' Lacrosse                   Soph
Aiden has had a good start to the season and Saturday he had a great game scoring 4 goals for us against La Salle in 3 quarters.
 
Henry Young               Boys' Volleyball               Jr
Henry is a 2nd year setter, that is currently leading our offense as players return from injury, while also leading the GMC in aces at time of submission. This past week, Henry had 3 aces and over 30 assists.
