Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Anquan Evans                 Football                          Sr.
Anquan rushed for 76 yards and 2 Touchdowns in the victory over Mason. He did a good job of pass protection. He has also had a great attitude looking for ways to consistently help the team.

Bently Earls                 Football                   Soph.
Bently had 3 solo, 3 asst tackles, along with 2 pass break ups defensively and had 2 tackles on Kickoff coverage.

Elena Weller                Girls' Tennis                    Sr.
Senior, Elena Weller, earned two wins this past week. She defeated Middletown with Catherine Glogowski & then on senior day she took home a 6-0, 6-0 win with Audrey Schnorbus over Fairfield.  Elena has provided so much value to the team and program beyond tennis.  She has become a natural leader and makes sure everyone feels welcomed at the courts.  Elena carries a 4.83 GPA while being a member of NHS and student council.  After high school, she plans on going to college at UC for mechanical engineering.

Brynlee Osterfeld               Girls' Cross Country              Fr.
Brynlee had an outstanding race at the Kings Invitational on Saturday, finishing as the team’s #5 runner and helping the team win the meet. She ran a personal-best time of 21:22, improving by more than one minute! Brynlee is a dedicated runner who gives her all at every practice. Her hard work and determination are leading to incredible progress this season.

Angeleena Murphy                  Girls' Soccer                     Jr.
Lena had a big assist this past week to help the Highlanders defeat Mason 2-1.  Recently transitioning from forward to defensive center midfielder, Lena has embraced her new role and has helped bring balance to both the attack and defense.. Her distribution, ability to read the game, and high soccer IQ have made her a vital part of the Highlanders' success. Lena's willingness to adapt and contribute wherever the team needs her is a great example of what it means to be a team player.

Emma Tharp                 Girls' Volleyball                    Sr.
Our senior captain, Emma Tharp, earned 58 kills, 40 digs, 5 aces and 4 blocks for her team this week in their tough matches against, Mason, Milford and Summit. Emma leads the team in kills and digs. When the team needs to come up with the kill, Emma continues to be one of our go to players.

Gaby Ball               Cheerleading                        Jr.
Gaby is a new member of our Varsity Traditional Competition Team, and she has quickly become a standout. She brings an incredible work ethic, determination, and willingness to learn to every practice. She takes corrections well and consistently puts in the effort to improve her skills week after week. Gaby has also been a longtime outstanding member of our Sideline Squad and Game Day Competition Team, and we are so excited to see her continue to grow and shine in this new role. In the spring you can catch Gaby dominating on the lacrosse field.
