Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Caleb Abel           Sr.          Wrestling               
Caleb Abel fought hard this weekend against Loveland and got a pin for the Wrestling team. He also has outstanding academics and has received an academic scholarship to the Ohio State University. Job well done Caleb!
Dy'Jhanik Armfield     Sr.        Girls' Basketball
The senior guard and captain capped off Senior Night with a brilliant performance against GMC champion Lakota West, leading Oak Hills in its 58-54 overtime loss to West. Dy scored a game-high 23 points and dished out 4 assists and 4 rebounds. She finished the regular season second in the league in scoring at 18.6 ppg, first in assists at 3.4 per game, and first in steals at 4.0 per game and helped lead the Highlanders to their best record in four seasons. Her overall GPA is 3.1.  
Jaylah Herzog           Sr.           Girls' Basketball
The senior forward and captain capped off Senior Night with a brilliant performance against GMC champion Lakota West as Oak Hills nearly upset West, falling 58-54 in overtime. Jaylah recorded her fifth double-double of the season and second in a row, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots. Jaylah finished the regular season third in the GMC conference in rebounding at 9.1 per game, fourth in steals at 2.6 per game, and sixth in blocked shots at 1.5 per game. Jaylah carries a 3.5 GPA.  
Emma Thomas           Sr.           Girls' Basketball
The senior guard and captain capped off Senior Night with her best defensive performance of the season against GMC champion Lakota West as Oak Hills nearly upset West, falling 58-54 in overtime. Emma did an outstanding job on the defensive end of the floor, helping the Highlanders hold West to just 33 percent shooting from the floor. Emma also had a huge steal and the go-ahead basket at the end of the fourth quarter in the regular-season finale win at Hamilton, helping the Highlanders to their best overall and league record in the past four seasons. Emma carries a 3.98 GPA.  
Joey Obert          Jr.            Boys' Swimming
Joey is an honors student-athlete that helped the boys swim and dive team to one of their best finishes at sectionals in the last decade. Joey posted personal best times in both of his individuals and is the last leg of the 200 free relay that qualified for districts. He will continue to be a leader on the team next year.  
Caitlin Hazlett             Soph            Girls' Swimming
Caitlin is a sophomore on the swim and dive team that brings enthusiasm and positive energy to the team. Her hard work and dedication have provided her with much improvement over the last two years. At sectionals, Caitlin swam a personal best in both of her individual events.  
Cam Brandt        Sr          Boys' Basketball
Cam scored 32 points, had 11 assists and 5 rebounds in 2 GMC wins over Lakota West and Middletown. Cam is a multi-sport athlete, volunteers for community service and owns a 3.4 GPA.
Austin Dennis        Jr.          Boys' Basketball
Austin scored 19 points, had 9 assists and 6 rebounds in 2 GMC wins over Lakota West and Middletown. Austin is a multi-sport athlete, volunteers for community service and owns a 4.0 GPA.  
Kelen Dietrich          Sr.        Boys' Basketball
Kelen scored 43 points and 9 rebounds in 2 GMC wins over Lakota West and Middletown. Kelen volunteers for community service and owns a 3.9 GPA.  
Adonis Caneris        Jr.           Boys' Basketball
Adonis scored 48 points, had 4 assists and 8 rebounds in 2 GMC wins over Lakota West and Middletown. Adonis volunteers for community service and owns a 4.0 GPA.
