Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named the GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Morgan Lint      Girls' Tennis            Soph
Morgan went 2-0 this past week at first singles with wins over Wyoming and Lakota East. Earlier in the season; Morgan defeated Mason, Kings, and Seton. Morgan has a 4.0 GPA and plans on playing tennis in college.
 
Luke Banschbach Boys' Soccer Jr
In his first varsity match, Luke registered two assists and had the game-tying goal to help lead Oak Hills to a 3-3 tie with Ross in our opening game. Luke currently has a 3.72 GPA.  
 
Brandon Brooks        Boys' Soccer          Jr
Brandon scored our first goal of the season on a head ball off of a corner kick against Ross. He also placed a precision pass through the defense to register the game-tying assist late in the game to avert a loss and guide us to a 3-3 tie. Brandon currently has a 3.92 GPA.
 
Abby Cole Girls' Soccer Sr
Abby, a Senior Captain, scored her 1st career Varsity goal this past week at Ross. She tallied a goal and an assist, as the Highlanders opened up the season with a win. Abby helped anchor the midfield and did a great job connecting our lines in the Ross game.  
 
Anabelle McDonald               Cross Country             Jr
Anabelle is an incredible role model and leader to the team. She was voted captain by her teammates. She has worked incredibly hard since last season proving herself to be one of our top runners. She placed 29th out of 377 runners this past weekend at the OHSAA preseason meet helping her team to a 13th place finish out of 44 teams. She ran a time of 20:05 which is just six seconds from her personal best time.
 
Alexa Moore Volleyball Sr
During the first match of the season, Alexa recorded 8 serving aces, 15 digs and passed a 2.2 on 3 point scale. She was a spark to our defense as well as the serving game.  
 
Lucy Rankin              Girls' Golf                    Jr
Lucy, a 3rd-year Varsity Golfer, has steadily improved each year. She has contributed greatly to our undefeated season so far! She has already improved her average 11 strokes from freshman year. Last year, she earned 2nd team GMC honors. Her calm demeanor is a great asset to our team, and we look for Lucy to do great things this season! She maintains a 4.0 average in her college and AP-level courses.
 
Jordan Brogan Football Jr
Jordan Brogan in his first football game ever was 3/3  on XPs, had three Kick-Offs inside the five, for a 56-yard average and he punted three times for a 49 yard average with a long of 51 yards. Jordan also had an amazing touchdown-saving tackle!  He is also a striker for the varsity soccer team and a headliner in the classroom with a 3.7 GPA.
