Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Kylie Lockwood          Girls' Softball        Jr.
Junior catcher Kylie Lockwood came into this season on fire. She is a vital part of the team's early success. She helped lock up a perfect game against Middletown’s after a diving catch at home plate. She completed 14/15 of the putouts. She was 3/3 in the 1-0 win over Mason. She leads the team with 50 putouts on the season without committing an error and she’s gone 5 for 8 the last 3 games hitting .455 in the 2 spot. Kylie is also a member of the National Honor Society .

Eva Hensley Girls' Track Soph
Eva Hensley had an exceptional week, winning the 1600 meter run at the Coaches Classic Invitational on Friday night. More impressively, Eva set a new personal record in the race running a time of 5:22, all while running during a hail storm. She was also the lead leg of the 4x800 meter relay team that placed 4th. Eva is an exceptional competitor, leader, and student-athlete. She is also a varsity Cross Country athlete.

Alyssa Hammond           Girls' Track              Jr.

Robert Hart Boys' Track Sr.
Robert was the top scorer on the boys team on Friday, with a 2nd in long jump, 1st place in high jump and a member of the 1st place 4x400 relay team. Robert won the high jump competition and continued on to make some very good attempts at breaking the school record. As he was taking his final jump of the night, his teammates were starting the 4x400 relay. He calmly changed his shoes, walked over and stepped right into the relay. His ability to stay cool under pressure was impressive!

Brennan has led the Highlanders as a sophomore in defense. Playing in 5 sets of the last two matches Brennan has recorded 17 digs, 49 pass points, 17 serves with only 1 error, and 6 assists. Brennan has also demonstrated great leadership by encouraging guys at all times, being a true vocal leader, and never giving up on a play.
