Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Max Doerger           Boys' Tennis                Sr.
Max went 3-0 this past week with wins over Seven Hills, Princeton, and Harrison. Max has worked incredibly hard in the off-season as it reflects in his 5-2 record. In addition to playing tennis, Max works at a car shop and he plans on going to college to get a degree in accounting.

Antonio Buccino Boys' Track Sr.
Antonio threw a massive personal best in the discus on Friday of 133' 9". This improved on his previous personal best by 15 feet. A breakthrough of this magnitude is extremely impressive. For a seasoned, senior athlete in their 4th year of competition to improve by that much is unheard of! The rest of Antonio's final season promises to be exciting!

Kyler Frede        Baseball             Jr.
Kyler earned the win against GMC opponent Princeton on Thursday. He threw a complete game and struck out 6, while only throwing 68 pitches. He carries a 3.45 GPA.

Julia Hageman Girls' Track Jr.
Julia had an impressive meet on Friday night at the Harrison Invitational. She placed 2nd in the mile running a personal best time, 3rd in the 800 meters and 5th in the 4x400 relay. Julia is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the ASL honor society. She has been a three year varsity Cross Country athlete as well as a team Captain. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked in the top 1% of her class.

Niki Bode           Softball             Jr.
Niki Bode has been hot this season in the lead off spot hitting .435 with an .500OBP hitting 3-triples, 3- doubles and a HR. She’s also solid at shortstop with a 1.000 fielding avg. Niki is a leader for the Highlanders on the field as well as off the field as she is also a member of National Honor Society.
