Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

India Woolridge         Girls' Track             Sr
India's senior season has been a truly memorable one. She has become one of the leaders of our sprint group and a runner who we rely on every week. India was the anchor leg on the 7th place 4x200 and 6th place 4x100 relays at the GMC Championships.

Leni Sullivan Girls' Track Fr
Leni has been the top 400m runner on our team all season. She ran an impressive personal best time at the GMC Championships to qualify to finals and eventually finish 8th. Just a freshman, Leni has the potential to be one of the core athletes we depend upon in the 400m and relays in the future.

EJ Schneider              Boys' Track               Fr
EJ is a kind of athlete teams can never have enough of. He is supportive of his teammates, reliable and believes in himself. At the GMC Championships, EJ ran an incredible anchor leg on the 3rd place 4x800 relay in a huge personal best time. He didn't run so fast because it made sense, he did it because his team needed him.

Alex Taft Boys' Track Jr
Alex has been having the most consistent and successful season of his life so far. The most recent three 3200m races he has run have been the best three of his career. Alex's personal best performance in the 3200m at the GMC Championships earned him 7th place.

Maeve Fink              Softball            Jr
Maeve has been on fire for the Highlanders this season. She has come through with multiple clutch hits. Maeve went 6/13 the last 4 games to help complete the season as GMC Co- Champs as well as move forward toward the Sectional Finals. Maeve has started in all 25 games at first base without committing an error. She has been an all around leader for the Highlanders both on and off the field. Maeve is also a member of NHS and carries a 4.0 gpa.

Lily Hayes Softball Sr
Lily has been a defensive standout for the Highlanders this season. In big games she has made game changing catches to help keep the momentum going for the Highlanders. Lily had 4 clutch catches in both Lakota West outings while committing no errors. Lily's leadership has led the Highlanders throughout their successful season.

Wyatt Ferguson             Baseball              Jr
Wyatt went 5 for 13 with 2 runs scored for the week. Wyatt is batting .375 on the season and has a .444 OBP. He worked tirelessly over the last 4 months to rehab from off-season surgery. He brings toughness and energy to the team on a consistent basis. He also carries a 3.8 GPA in the classroom.

Eric Schaumloffel Boys' Tennis Jr
Eric qualified for districts this past week with his doubles partner, Tomasso Strocchi. Eric is the first boys player to go to back to back districts at Oak Hills in 14 years. Eric also earned a singles win over Anderson earlier in the week. In addition to tennis Eric has a 4.0 GPA while taking AP classes & is a member of NHS and student council.

Tomasso Strocchi               Boys' Tennis             Sr
