Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Kailee Hebert     Softball            Jr
Kailee has been solid for the Highlanders in Centerfield all season. She’s also been clutch with game winning dingers. She had a homerun in the beginning of the season to take the win against Mason and hit her 3rd homer of the season for a walk-off against Lebanon to clinch the District Title. Kailee not only leads on the softball field but she’s a 3 sport athlete who maintains a 3.58 GPA attending classes at Oak Hills and Diamond Oaks.

Riley Ludwig Girls' Track Sr
As she nears the conclusion of her senior year, Riley seems to be saving her best for last. After an incredible 4 years, she is poised for a huge finish as she prepares to compete in the 100m hurdles at the Regional Championship. She was district runner-up in the event a few days ago in a lifetime best time of 14.81, landing her name in the #2 spot on the all-time Oak Hills list.

Nate Srode Boys' Track Sr
After a 5th place finish in the 3200m last season at districts, Nate refocused and landed a 3rd place finish this year. His top-4 finish earned him a chance to compete at the regional championships later this week. Nate has been an incredible leader to his teammates this past year and he will be greatly missed.

James Walz            Boys' Track            Soph
James' only job at the district championship finals, was to be ready on deck as an alternate for the 4x400 relay. Most of the time, an alternate does not need to be called upon. Regardless, he prepared himself physically and mentally and had to wait until just 2 minutes before his race to be finally told that he would be running. He stepped into some very big shoes but did not let his team down. James helped the 4x400 relay to a 4th place finish and advanced to the regional championship this week.
