Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!


Erykah Cornett          Girls' Soccer            Sr.
Erykah, a Senior Captain for the Highlanders, helped the team to two more victories this past week. She scored 4 goals and had the assists on 3 goals, vs Harrison and Hamilton. She tied the school record for most career assists (30). Erykah has been a force in the attack as well as a leader for her team.
 
Cooper Harrison Football Soph
In his first varsity start, sophomore Cooper Harrison showed he is Friday Night ready. Cooper was the leading tackler from either team with one assist and eight solo tackles.   
 
Yasmine Masri           Girls' Tennis          Fr.
Yasmeen picked up her second conference win of the season at third singles, beating Middletown 6-1, 6-1. She made the varsity team as a freshman with hard work in the off-season. Yasmeen carries a 4.0 GPA and has been a strong contributor to positive team chemistry.
 
Ella Daeninck Girls' Cross Country Sr.
Ella is a foreign exchange student running Cross Country for the first time. She is an important part of our team as she brings a lot of positive upbeat energy to practice. She is a promising varsity athlete who improved her time by over a minute in just the second race of the year.  
 
Morgan White             Boys' Cross Country    Jr.
Morgan has been consistently improving this season and becoming a guy his teammates can rely upon. His work ethic is excellent and his teammates benefit from his attitude and intensity in practice and games.
 
Ben Stamper    Boys' Soccer              Soph
Ben had a goal and an assist in our 5-1 win over Hamilton and our lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Elder this past week. He is currently third in the GMC in overall scoring. Ben has a 4.0 GPA. 
 
Sam Zimmerly                 Boys' Soccer                 Sr.
Sam moved to central defensive midfield and has solidified our defense since the change. His field awareness, distribution, and intelligent positioning have been instrumental in our success. Sam has a 3.95 GPA.
