Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Alex Taft        Boys' Cross Country          Sr.
Alex ran the race of his life at the district championships on Saturday. His time was a lifetime best and he finished 17th, which earned him an individual qualification to the regional championships. This is Alex's third time running at the regional championship, but his first time qualifying as an individual.
 
Julia Hageman Girls' Cross Country Sr
Julia helped her team to a 2nd place finish at the District Championship meet this past Saturday. She is a 4 year varsity Cross Country athlete as well as a varsity track athlete. She has been voted by her teammates as captain both her junior and senior years. She earned 2nd team All-GMC honors this year. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked in the top 1% of her class.   
 
Micah Valdez           Boys' Soccer                    Sr.
Micah is a two year starter who scored his first goal of his varsity career in our 2-1 loss to LaSalle. He primarily plays defense, but was able to score an opportunistic goal on a free kick in the last game of his senior year.
 
Luke Barkley Football Sr
Luke had 5 solo tackles this past Friday in a win against Middletown, including a sack, a tackle for loss, and an interception. Luke played offense as well and had 1 reception for 13 yards.
