Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Elias Wheeler            Football               Sr.
The senior multi-sport athlete hauled in 4 catches for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns in Friday night's 35-28 win over Fairfield. Elias also maintains a 3.1 grade point average while taking a number of college level courses.
 
Brandon Stidham    Football    Sr.
The senior quarterback was 7 of 16 for 74 yards and touchdown and also rushed 7 times for 52 yards leading the Highlanders to a 35-28 victory over Fairfield. Brandon is a multisport athlete who carries a 3.43 grade point average while taking a number of honors, advanced placement, and college credit plus courses.   
 
Maya Smith              Girls' Soccer              Sr.
Maya, a Senior Centerback, helped the Highlanders earn two big GMC wins this past week. Maya's strong 1v1 defending, soccer IQ and technical ability, has played a big part in the team earning 9 shutouts this season. Maya will be joining the Marine Corps upon graduation.
 
Kayla Robinson     Girls' Volleyball     Jr.
Kayla had 48 digs and averaged a 2.68/3.0 passing rate against this past week's opponents, Taylor and Fairfield.   
 
Samantha Getz            Girls' Cross Country                 Fr
Samantha started off the season as a JV runner but has continued to improve all season. She placed as the varsity team's #5 runner at the Ross Invitational helping her team to a 2nd place finish. She ran a personal best time of 21:08.
 
Allyson Hassett      Girls' Cross Country     Fr
Allyson has been a consistent contributor to the varsity team. This past weekend she placed as the team's #7 runner helping the team to a 2nd place finish at the Ross Invitational. She also ran a personal best time of 21:09.   
 
Eric Dew               Boys' Cross Country               Jr.
For the first time this season, Eric was the top runner for the Highlanders at the Ross Invitational on Saturday.  He did so with a new personal best time of 16:54, which is the fastest time on our team so far this year.  Eric is a very dedicated athlete who constantly asks what he can do to improve himself and asks the coaches about tips for new racing strategies. Eric is an excellent student as well. He has a 4.0 GPA.
