Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Morgan White        Boys' Cross Country        Sr.
Morgan is a senior and has been running cross country for four years. The end of this season has been his best finish yet. Morgan has been very consistent and managed to stay level headed and positive through the season's ups and downs. His best race of the season happened at the GMC Championships on Saturday. This season-best effort couldn't have come at a better moment because Morgan's performance sealed the 3rd place finish for the Highlanders. Oak Hills tied Lakota East, but in cross country team ties are broken by the place of the sixth runner. Morgan bested East's 6th runner by over 10 seconds!
 
Owen McChristian     Football      Sr
Senior, captain Owen McChristian is a leader on and off the field. Besides his three tackles, Owen has two crucial pass break ups and a pivotal 4th quarter interception in the Highlanders 17-7 win over East. Off the field, Owen is a 4.0 student who is in the top 10% of the senior class.  
 
Theorie Troxell             Football                 Soph
Theorie, a sophomore nose guard, has been instrumental in the success of the Highlanders defense. He had four solo tackles including a tackle for a loss in the Highlanders 17-7 win over East.
 
Caitlyn Wunderlich      Girls' Cross Country      Sr
Caitlyn is an incredible leader. She has been voted captain the last two years by her teammates. She is a very positive, determined and dedicated athlete. She is a 4-year varsity Cross Country runner. She is also a varsity track athlete and is involved with NHS. Caitlyn has earned a 4.0 GPA with a rigorous academic schedule. 
 
Kellee Shay           Girls' Cross Country            Sr.
Kellee is an athlete who is also very involved with school activities. She is a 4-year varsity Cross Country runner. She is a member of the Cheer team as well as the academic team and the track and field team. She is a member of NHS and serves on the Student Council. Kellee has earned a 4.0 GPA with a rigorous academic schedule. 
 
Ayva Moore     Girls' Soccer    Jr.
Ayva scored a goal in the GMC Title game vs Sycamore, to help the Highlanders secure its second title in 2 years. Ayva plays up top as well as in the back. She has played a huge part in helping the team secure 11 shutouts this year, including a big shutout against Sycamore. Ayva has been very versatile playing multiple positions for the Highlanders.
