Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Abby Linenkugel         Girls' Soccer         Soph
Abby scored a goal and had an assist this past week against Middletown. Her strong technical skill set, pace, ability to serve balls into the box and her ability to beat players 1v1, have given her a lot of success this season. She is also currently taking 2 Honors courses and 2 AP courses.
 
Lilly Smith   Girls' Soccer         Sr.
Lilly picked up her first career goal, and first career assist this week at Colerain. She also played center back against Middletown to secure a clean sheet for the Highlanders. Her ability to win balls, her pace, and technical skill set allow her to be successful in any position on the field. She is also taking 2 AP courses and 2 honors classes.  
 
Jillian Yates        Girls' Volleyball           Jr
During three matches this week, Jillian hit 29 kills with .845 efficiency. She also tallied 6 blocks and 4 serving aces. Jillian has made some huge strides the past two weeks transitioning to a new position. Jillian is also a member of the Track and Field team. She is involved in Spanish Honor Society, NHS and carries a 4.0 GPA. 
 
Alex Weissmann       Boys' Soccer         Sr.
Alex is an outside back and is a primary reason for our defensive success, leading the Highlanders to three clean sheets in the last four games. Last week he helped lead us to a key win in a 2-0 victory over Turpin. Alex is a 2 year varsity soccer player and has earned the Academic O multiple times, Alex has a 3.7 GPA.  
 
Will Sweet        Boys' Soccer      Soph
Will opened the scoring in a battle against Turpin, with his first career varsity goal, helping the Highlanders to a 2-0 victory in the Eastside/ Westside rivalry. This was his first career goal as an Oak Hills varsity player.
 
Julia Hageman         Girls Cross Country           Soph
Julia has worked hard to overcome an ankle injury which caused her to lose three weeks of training in the middle of August. She placed as the team's number 3 runner at the Talawanda Sunset Invitational this past weekend placing 8th overall in the race helping her team to a second-place team finish. Julia is also an excellent student and has a 4.0 GPA.
