Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the week!

Avery Gottlieb         Softball              Soph
Avery Gottlieb led the Highlanders to their 10th win last week. Avery went 4-1 over the week. Her only loss came from a 3-2 heartbreaker to West which came down to the 7th inning. She pitched 5 complete games this week (35 innings). She allowed only 7 earned runs, had 47ks, and only 2 walks. She collected her 101st strikeout of the season. Not only was she wheeling on the mound but on offense, she went 10-18 at the plate (.555) collecting 9rbi, a double, and a pair of home runs. Avery “grew up” this past week. After losing freshman year to Covid she’s back in full force paving her way as a true leader on the field. She’s been a big part of the 10-3 start this season for the Highlanders. Congrats on a fantastic week!

Riley Ludwig Girls' Track Jr
Riley ran two season bests in the 100 and 300 hurdle races this week. She was runner up in the shorter race and the champion of the longer. Riley was also the third leg of the second-place 4x100 relay. Her contributions totaled more points than any other Oak Hills athlete this week, helping her team win the 1st place trophy at the Harrison Invitational.

James Schmidt           Boys' Track              Sr
James put on quite a show for the crowd at the Harrison Invitational. He ran 4:16.03 in the 1600m, breaking the former Oak Hills school record by over 5 seconds. His time is the second-fastest in Ohio so far this year. James now owns all four of the middle distance and distance records at Oak Hills.

Tommy Troseth Boys' Lacrosse Sr
Tommy had a great game against LaSalle and led the Highlanders to a 13-4 win. Tommy had to play out of position but that didn’t stop him from putting in 4 goals and an assist while playing attack. Tommy is a senior leader and one of our captains for this season.
