Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Will Steioff             Boys' Golf            Jr
Will Steioff led the Highlanders with a score of one over par (37) at Nuemann this past week. Will also excels in the classroom, ranking 23rd in the Junior Class and earning over a 4.0 GPA.
 
Riley Broughton Volleyball Sr
This has been a great week for Riley! She broke two records this week! She is now the current All-time Assists (sets) and Aces (serving) leader for Oak Hills and she isn’t finished! Riley is our quarterback who runs the show for our team, excels in the classroom, and leads by example for all Highlanders! 
 
Nate Srode           Boys' Cross Country       Sr
Nate has been an excellent captain his senior year by always doing what he can for his teammates. His willingness to do what it takes to succeed helps to set a tone of positivity for our team. Nate has been consistently near or at the front of the Highlander squad for every race so far this year. He was the fastest Oak Hills runner at Centerville on Saturday.  
 
Lydia Essert             Girls' Golf             Sr
Lydia is the team captain and has been the heart of our team for 4 years. She rallies our team and is vital to our wins. She is a 4-year varsity golfer and has been Most Improved and our Highlander award winner. She carries a 3.8 GPA with numerous honors classes throughout her high school years.
 
Sophia Kureze              Girls' Soccer                 Jr
Sophia, a Junior Captain, for the Highlanders, had a record-breaking week. She scored 6 goals this past week to help her team to 2 big wins on the road. She also set the school record for most career goals with 53! She is also taking 2 AP classes and 2 Honors classes!
 
Anabelle Hageman Girls' Cross Country Fr
Annabelle ran a personal best time of 20:45 at the Centerville Night race on Saturday. She improved her time by 48 seconds and placed as the team's #4 runner. She passed 13 competitors in the last mile of the race and had an incredible finishing kick the last 200 meters.  
 
Jonah Broxterman Boys' Soccer Jr
Jonah recorded a shutout, registering (3) saves in a 2-0 win against Middletown. In the same game, he also assisted on one of the two goals. Jonah has a 3.97 GPA.  
 
Claire Bollinger               Girls' Tennis                Soph
Sophomore Claire Bollinger earned a 5th place finish for the 1st doubles with Molli Malone at the GMC tournament. The duo's finish helped solidify a 3rd place finish for the team in the tournament and regular season. In Claire's first year on varsity, she is 8-8 on the season with various doubles partners. Claire carries a 4.0 GPA and loves spending time with friends and family.
